Diagnoses We Treat
Neurospace has a special interest in helping people with movement problems due to damage to the nervous and/or sensory systems. This problems may include difficulty with activities such as walking, getting out of a chair or using the arms and hands.
Neurospace therapists assess difficulties and analyse movements in order to offer interventions that assists with neurological conditions including:
- Dizziness and vestibular issues (vertigo)
- Multiple sclerosis
- Parkinson’s disease
- Traumatic brain injury
- Recovery from neurosurgery
- Motor Neurone Disease
- Peripheral neuropathies (damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system)
- Muscular dystrophies
- Cerebral palsy
- Spinal cord injury
We pride ourselves on management for a range of contributing factors to dizziness including perpheral vestibular structure (outer ear), brain, the neck and psychological factors. Up-to-date testing equipment is used to report on eye function and ability to stay in control of movements and to stay steady.
As a person gets older the effects of past medical events become more significant; difficulties more complex due to cumulative medical events and traumas; and become more rapidly deconditioned due to rest. Often older people stop participating fully in life’s activities due to a range of factors, such as illness, pain, and falls . We can assist with the restoration of physical abilities to maximise independence. We advise and help clients to feel steady on their feet. This can include addressing underlying impairments such as muscle weakness, joint pain or reduced motor control. We also consider footwear, aids and our clients’ environment. Home modifications can be arranged with our occupational therapist. We introduce exercises at a level to suit the client so they can get back to their community groups and activities. We offer a range of groups to support individual assessment and management. This includes balance group, walking group, hydrotherapy (reconditioning).

Neurospace has a strong track record for assisting people manage chronic pain and neuralgic pain. Pain is both a structural and neurological event. People with chronic pain may be physically deconditioned and have other health issues that need concurrent management.
Our holistic approach can include gentle hands-on work, use of cold laser therapy, and an exercise approach that takes you back to the fundamentals of movement. We always seek to address the cause and contributors of the pain and consider underlying pain mechanisms in our treatment approach. Further we seek to strengthen weakened structures, rehabilitate habits and movements, and integrate cognitive approaches for attitudes. Small group work can be used as adjunct to individual work or help progression to community programs. This is offered with our ‘Core Essentials’ group and hydrotherapy.
