Neurological Rehabilitation

A Neurological Physiotherapist has a special interest in helping people with movement problems due to damage to the nervous and/or sensory systems.  These can be difficulties with activities such as:

  • Walking
  • Moving on the bed
  • Getting out of a chair
  • Feeling unsteady
  • Using arms & hands easily

Individual Assessment

Your therapist will assess you to determine the cause of your difficulties including such things as:

  • Strength
  • Co-ordination
  • Sensation
  • Movement Control
  • Joint function & structure
  • Dizziness

Provide a complete analysis of your movements such as :

  • Walking
  • Standing
  • Getting out of a chair
  • Bed movements
  • Reaching and hand activities

and take into account how these impact on your daily activities

Personalised Plans

Your therapist will then formulate a plan to help you reach achievable goals.

This may involve regular physiotherapy, less frequent monitoring for exercise reviews or consultation with other health professionals as required.

Exercise

We provide all clients with a tailored exercise program. We have a large specially equipped gym located in our practice for you to use.

We can also facilitate your involvement in the local community and are able to liaise with other organisations, including gyms to assist this process.

Shared sessions help you gain support from others while you exercise in a friendly cost effective environment. We have sessions for core stability, balance and tailored exercise programs.

Equipment

Equipment may be needed to assist you. We can recommend, provide and fit items for you to purchase or hire.
