Neurospace is opening the gym doors for those who would like to complete their exercise programs in our lovely new facility.

Do you currently have a gym program from one of our therapists? You can start right away! If you would like to use the gym before or after a booked appointment, there is no charge.

If you would like to use the gym at other times, you can purchase a gym access pass. The gym access pass is just $99 per month, available in either 3-month ($297) or 6-month ($594) passes.

All you need is a program developed by one of our therapists (within the last 2 months) and you can get started!

If you need to book an appointment to have a program developed, please contact reception. We recommend an initial appointment* to develop your program plus a 30-minute follow up to ensure you are exercising safely and able to reach your goals. Your program can be developed by our Physiotherapists or Exercise Physiologists.

* Initial Appointment: 45 mins or 60 mins if complex condition

Special offer for current clients:

If you are currently receiving regular treatment from one of our therapists, the monthly rate is reduced to just $85 per month! (3 months $255, 6 months $765). Or if you only use the gym when you are in for an appointment, there is no charge.

Special offer for Carers:

Would you like to work on your own program while you are waiting? If you have a program set-up by our Exercise Physiologist, you can exercise for free whilst they are in their session! Just book in to a gym session at the same time as their appointment

Conditions apply:

Purchasing a gym pass entitles you to use of the Neurospace gym during our regular opening hours. We reserve the right to modify the opening hours for operational requirements.

You are required to book your session times with reception staff, to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort whilst in our facility.

This is unsupervised gym access, and whilst our therapists will also be working with clients in the gym they are not available for consultation during that time. If you require assistance with your program, or for your program to be reviewed you will need to book an appointment with one of our therapists.

Payment for gym access is in advance for 3 or 6 months. This fee is not refundable, and no credit will be given for periods where you do not access the gym (eg holidays).

Jacinta, our fearless Exercise Physiologist will be commemorating Anzac Day slightly differently this year. As you know this year marks 100 years since Australian soldiers took their first steps onto the shores of Gallipoli.

Over seven days in April I will compete in a team Ultra marathon. Our team, dubbed Team Lone Pine, consisting of good friends Michael Davies, Camron Ebzery and Emma Bruns, will embark on a journey covering 420 kilometres in honour of those who gave their lives for our country.

Yes you read correctly, 420km per team which works out to be 105km per runner (or 5 half marathons). Considering that as of December I hadn’t run any more than 10km continuously, this will be a huge feat. But that is exactly the point. I, like the Anzacs, am an everyday person asked to complete a monumental challenge. Like the Anzacs, it will require training, perseverance, mateship and mental toughness. It is in this way that I will show my respect for the Anzac spirit.

Importantly, the ANZAC Ultra marathon event aims to raise over $50,000 to make a difference in the lives of those currently serving or dealing with the loss of loved ones who once served, through the Legacy charity. Currently, the ANZAC Ultra has raised $16K for Legacy and I take pride knowing we’re contributing to Legacy’s important work.

You can get involved by donating to this worthy cause via our team fund-raising page https://anzacultra2015.everydayhero.com/au/team-lone-pine. Did you know Legacy currently cares for 100,000 widows and 1,900 children and disabled dependants throughout Australia? Chances are you know one of them! I encourage you to join me in whatever way you can. Perhaps you would like to visit Canberra and cheer us on or run a couple of kilometres with me!

If you would like to learn more about the event it can be found at (new updates will be uploaded on February 28thhttp://www.anzacultra2015.com/

Next program starting term 4: individual assessment and goal setting preferred before commencement of group.

. . and for the 13 – 16 year olds we are running a pilot program of

Activiteens

This group is designed to get teens interested and participating in exercise to encourage continued exercise participation. Teens will learn new skills and knowledge of exercise in a non-competitive environment.

Does your child have poor posture? Does your child have a neurological condition or movement problem? Not sure how they can safely exercise? Worried about injuries as your child develops and find they are injurying themselves team sports (prehabilitation)?

Structured sport and physical education in schools provides children with opportunities to exercise through their development but fails to instil the necessary skills, understanding or knowledge of how to continue to exercise into adult life. Teen years are the ideal platform to form new and lasting habits. By creating a non-competitive environment and targeting interests of teens it is possible to build self-confidence and healthy lifestyles.

 Expected outcomes

Measure progress, not performance. By the end of the term teens will be able to:

  • Improve their individual scores on balance, strength and coordination. (see examples of session outcome measures further down)
  • Consistently participate in 60min a day of exercise and meet the national standards
  • Healthy eating goal:
  • Lumbopelvic and shoulder girdle stability, strength, coordination and balance

 Features of the program:

TECHNOLOGY BASED: Bringing technology together with exercise to achieve physical activity outcomes. Incorporating DVD exercise/dance, Nitendo Wii, Biofeedback and EMG into exercise – help Limit arguments in the home about screen time.

SCIENCE-BASED FOUNDATION: Our program was designed by an exercise physiologist. It aims to enhance lumbopelvic and shoulder girdle stability, improve coordination and balance while encouraging continued participation in exercise into adult hood.

SMALL CLASS SIZES: Classes contain no more than 6 teens and have a 1:6 instructor to student ratio. This means more attention for your child and better learning outcomes.

Activiteens classes on Tuesdays @ 4pm – next 6-week term begins on February 24
